Default Basic tyre wear question

Apologies for a very basic question. Until I got the S I was never really one to prod around too much under the car...

This is one of my rear tyres at present:

My understanding is that the tyre wear indicators sit in the deep grooves running around the tyre. These are currently indicating that the tyre is ok, but other areas of the tyre esp the innermost and outermost sections are looking a little less than grippy in the wet.

If I was to wait until what I understand to be the wear indicators are running across the tyre I don't think there will be anything else left on it!

Do I change them or will they survive a Jockmeet?

See the tread on the left edge coming inwards, that's supposed to meet the first banded tread. It doesn't, therefore you have a Kojak on your hands baby.

Apart from that section on the left of the pic, there is about 4mm on tread left which is why I was a bit puzzled...

Apparently re050s are on back order from Bridgestone at the moment anyway.

I was driving a full set of SO2's on 2.6mm during a spell of tropical downpours last year and the concentration required to keep the car on the road was immense.
