That's not good at all.

Get an oil sample and have it checked over. Sounds dodgy.

That must be absolutely gutting, sorry to hear that. I hope you get it all sorted out quickly so you can enjoy the car again.

It does sound a bit strange on a 57 plate for the big end to go, its usually the pre facelift as far as i understand.

I reckon they started it up having forgot to put the oil in.

It's 08/09 engines that seem to report the most engine failures as far as I am aware?

OP, very sorry for you, but as others have mentioned I'd certainly suspect some poor workmanship at this stage! Unless there were any signs before the service?

If it is in fact stupidity from the persons who carried out the work this is the very reason I do as much as humanely possible of the work to my own car!

Ah yes, sorry I forgot about the 08/09 engines. Also, it could happen to the pre facelifts as they generally burn more oil, so if it wasn't chrcked regularly it could run low. This obviously isn't the case here though, sounds like the person who serviced it.

I'm in round 2 of negotiations with Honda, awaiting a reply. They said it looked like a low oil symptom after main dealer had striped it and contacted them. Oil was spot on with no discolouration when I bought it in December, and I checked it regularly. Oil was then changed at the service the day before the event, and again was spot on. When the AA patrol arrived that was the first thing he checked - again, spot on.
