Default BIG WHEELS-getting it right

Just got the actual dimensions from Bridgestone on the S02JZ Potenza's fitted as std to S2k's, 'cause when I finally get my car it's getting 18" wheels etc.

Rear is 225/50x16 section width is 222mm and o/a diam is 628mm
Front is 205/55x16 section width is 210mm and o/a diam is 632mm

Comparisons are:-

Yokohama AVS Sports in 17" and 18"

225/45x17 is 225mm width and 634mm diam on 7.5j rim
255/40x17 is 260mm width and 636mm diam on 9.0j rim

225/40x18 is 230mm width and 637mm diam on 8.0j rim
245/35x18 is 248mm width and 629mm diam on 8.5j rim
285/30x18 is 290mm width and 629mm diam on 10j rim

Just a piece of info that has probably been done before.

If you do want a conversion to larger wheels, always remember to get the overall diameter as close as possible to the original to keep speedo's, diff's etc accurate. Remember to get the offset of the rim correct to keep loading correct on wheel bearings and studs and to try and retain the original fluididty of the cars steering dynamics.

There are good sources of info out there.

Craig

Do you have the part number for the superleggeras, I too am considering these

If you have the number for the correct off-set that would be great

Do you use the standard wheel nuts?

I'm not too sure !! - I would prefer large of the type we have as standard, I've never really been keen on aftermarket alloys.

Sorry guys, I don't have a parts number - Halfords Solihull had to speak to their supplier and they came back with the quote which I posted a couple of weeks ago:

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...threadid=108404

HOwever, I would double check the tyre sizes quoted by Halfords - the rears seem rather narrow (and Brian has mentioned several times on the board that the tyre tread is very important)

I also posted some OZ stats here:
