Don't have an S2000 any more, but I do still have a kit car with the S2000 engine and 'box.
I seem to recall that my old S (52 plate) would be a bit crunchy / clunky from 1st to 2nd, particularly the first couple of changes from cold. It was almost part of the drills when first pulling out of the drive - that first change requiring a bit more effort. It seemed quite common, so I just put it down to being a 'feature'.
Can't say I've noticed anything specific with the change on the Rush. Possibly because I subconsciously don't notice if it is happening, having been used to it, or perhaps because there's a whole different set of noises and clunks in a kit car!
