Had the same experience, left it a little at first, but it kept up very well, especially for a diesel. Tis an ugly looking fecking in my opinion tho

Fast, but not anything fantastic. If it was a bang up to date one, perhaps they've made some improvements. My little Saxo VTS used to be pretty much on a par with them to 130mph, so the S should sh*t on them if VTEC is used properly. If not they'll monster or at least equal you.

S2000 = power, 530D = torque.

In most everyday driving situations, torgue is much more usable and accessible than power.

would that mean that the 330D would be even faster than the 530D since it's probably lighter?

It is almost impossible to leave cars with decent power for dust on the motorway/staright roads and even most modern cars IMO. There is hardly anything in it and unless you have some serious horsepower I would stick to losing them on twisty roads. I once almost kept up to the back of an CL500 when I know how much more power they have but an SL55 destroyed me and I thought that I had put reverse gear on by mistake! That is the difference in power that I am talking about.
