Default Bolt in crossmember

Hello guys, I have removed my oem engine bay cross member ready to install a bolt in version. Can anyone point me in the rite direction
as to material choice?I have no idea how much load this is under when cornering so not sure how strong to make it, I mean I want both strong and
lightweight if possible.

1)3 inch round tube.......what wall thickness tho?
2)mild steel tube? Seamless mechanical? Or even aluminium?

Any advice would be great thanks.

As I'm doing a tuck and shave it will look a lot nicer, plus it will make it easier to remove the engine and gearbox in one go in the future.

Both good shouts, most of the pictures I've seen and articles I've read have been done with tubing then bolted in place. Its common i believe when doing an LS swap? Search this forum as i believe a guy on here put a custom tube one on while doing an LS swap.

Have a look on Facebook for a German guy called 'ASM Robby' he has a fully tucked AP2.
It is the cleanest S2k I have ever seen. He has replaced the cross member with a tube.
