Default Bonnet release cable

HI all,

Has anyone changed the bonnet release cable before? how long/bad of a job is it?

Mine keeps seizing so I can't lock the bonnet I have to pry the latch down every time to get it to lock. I've lubed the cable up a few times now and after a while it just locks up again.

Thanks

Are you sure it's the cable and not the latch that needs cleaning/lubing? That is a common phenomenon.

I have just replaced the cable on mine due to the end being totally corroded. You need to remove the drivers side wing, i also had the front bumper removed and headlights.

Make sure you clean up the latch aswell. Mine was a bit dirty!

With mine the rusty ferrule at the end was stopping the cable moving freely - due to being lazy and not wanting to have to run a new cable, I snipped the metal off to remove it and now works fine.

The metal bit that's rusty on the right and shiny on the left - obviously don't damage the cable sheath or any of the plastic bits.

FWIW it's still working fine and still not had to run a new cable
