I think you may have damaged it attempting to "do the deed" on the boot

This will not work the first time after the car has been driven! Once stationary, and the boot has been opened on the key, it will work every time.

not sure I quite understand that..
I know for instance, I've left the office at lunch unlocked the car and opened the boot remotely and it's opened. Next day I've had to use the Key.
Some morning's I come out of the house and the boot will open with the fob, other mornings it won't.
This will not work the first time after the car has been driven! Once stationary, and the boot has been opened on the key, it will work every time.
