Default Brake Discs

Got most of you to this thread under false pretence...

Its not the S2000 (so don't worry Chilly) its the Beemer.

Our 330 cab has for 34k and it needs new brake pads. Understandable, but BMW reckon it needs new rears and also new front discs!!

Something doesn't ring true here, so wanted to check with everyone.

Has anyone ever known a car to need new discs after only 34k of normal 'wife' driving?

Think we are going to get a 2nd opinion elsewhere, or go to an independent. A

She is a good driver, maybe a tad fast at times, so I can understand her destroying pads, not the discs though

We have called a very reputable independent and they were very suprised that the car would need new discs, but not suprised when we told them who the dealer was

Will see when we take it to the independent.

My brothers 528 needed discs at 28K then again about 12K later-then he sold it! My wifes 535 needs discs every 6k at the moment-no idea why but they keep replacing under warranty. Lets face it BMW build quality is not as good as Honda! Spent most of my morning sitting waiting for the mechanic at BMW to get round to fixing the air bag light-despite me having an appt for 1030 it was 1140 before the car even went into the garage. Now they tell me the computer on the instrument cluster is knackered and needs replacing-

If you do get it done, tell them you want the old discs back. If the disks were, in fact, ok then they might backtrack and say "sorry, a mistake, you don't need new ones after all" or they give them to you and you have proof as to whether they scammed you or not.
