The front brakes on an S2000 are exactly the same as on an EP3 Civic Type-R

Go and get some low mileage replacements as they'll be as common as muck.

Having had a look on ebay, they seem a bit costy. I got a pair from Car Transplants for £110 from a 2006 model that had done 13k miles.

As for Bluestuff.....

I thnk you may end up killing the discs with them. Racing fluid, whilst good, has a much shorter life than normal Super Dot4. As long as you change it every 6 -12 months, it'll be worth having.

Kwik Fit...

£231 for something that would have taken me an hour and cost about £120 in parts.

If it was the pads simply fading, the pedal wouldn't go soft, you just wouldn't stop as effectively.
That's not really true. If your pads fade, or glaze, that can feel like the pedal is spongy. Brake pads have a big effect on pedal feel; a lot of people are too quick to talk about fluid IMO. If it's fluid fade, sooner or later your foot will go straight to the floor , though you can usually pump it to get some braking back. If that ever happens, definitely time for new fluid.
usually if your pads glaze the pedal tends to feel wooden ie fairly good pedal but not much happening, spongy pedal is mostly poor or old fluid, over heated fluid,(caused by poor fluid or sticking caliper) pad knock back,or badly seated pads.Brake fluid should be changed every two years, or whenever a sticking caliper is changed or brake fluid has being overheated, my local garage has a meter which they put in the reservoir to check the boiling point of the fluid this should be checked at every service, after all apart from the right pedal the middle one is the second most important part of the car.

I pretty much do all the work myself so It wont be costing me anything. I have ordered the discs through one of the local motorfactors.
I was reading somewhere about bluestuff that they will work with oem discs and won't effect them much. I don;t mind changing discs as long as they last over 5k. I don't mind changing fluid either but most people who have used super blue racing fluid they say it last up to 12 months etc

Any ideas how much I should expect to pay to get it replaced? Also - if anyone has any recommendations for a decent indy garage in the Pontypool/Cwmbran area (South Wales) that would help a lot. I've come across r-motion.co.uk but havent heard much about them so not sure if theyre any good or not.

Thought Honda's were supposed to be reliable

On the whole they are very reliable, they just have a couple of archives heels, one being the sticking callipers and the other being the seized bushes/bolts. There probably isn't a car out there that doesn't have a few common issues.

Anyway, check the link below, £250 for the pair (replace both as the other will be on it's way out) and a £25 (call it £15 as it'll be about £10 postage) refund on the old units.

It's a DIY job if you like but any mechanic will be able to do it.
