Broken Pump

Default Broken Pump

I have an 07 s2000 and behind the front bumber and just infront of the wheel there is a black electric pump, mine has shattered , do any of you know what it is for?

i believe that is an AIR pump used for emmisions or vaccum lines but not completely sure

06 and later US spec cars don't have a air pump. It could be a pump for the headlight washers on euro cars. The UK forum may have more info.

It's the air pump. All UK cars have one including later DBW cars.

Is that all it is for, emissions? Would the pump be any reason for my car idiling fast, around 2000rpm? If it doenst do anything apart from sort emissions would it be fine to run around without one for a while?

i'd pull the fuse to make sure it doesn't overheat the contactor/relay (39794-PCX-023)

there's a bulletin for melting airpumps that would also damage the contactor/relay...probably due to overloading...
