Default Broken S2000

Hello i own an 02 S2000 GT but it recently came to a halt at my first track day at brands hatch due to lack of oil being pumped round under cornering .Honda would like several bars of gold too fix it describing a short engine is required ie crank, bearings, rods etc. I live near reading and wonder if anyone out there knows of good honda specialists too fix it. I would be open to uprating the engine as long as its for the right price but need some help. Any replies would be appreciated as i dont want to take a 2nd mortgage out to give to the dealership cheers kunie

Feel for you on that one. Radron on this board might be able to help you out, telling you what breakers he went to etc, as its happened to him a while back.

I can't find his original thread but copied this from a more recent one....

How did you deduce it was on cornering out of interest? If it has a good oil level the pump will still do the job of pumping it?? Ive heard of fuel surge / cut, but oil isnt common. Hope Mr Honda isnt trying to wriggle out of a pump failure?

Have to agree there. If the oil was between the min and max points on the dip stick then the pump has enough to work with.

I'd therefore get the oil pump checked and then do a warranty job if you can.

A baffled sump is highly recommended for track days if you really push the car.

If oil levels were fine and oil pump up to the job then surely this would help the arguement for the serious track day people to have baffled sumps.

The dealership costs for replacing engines is about

I recall that there was a recall for oil pumps though I am not sure if this was pre 2002 cars or not. If you bought a honda approved car 2nd hand one would expect the recall work to have been done.
