Ah, sorry, didn't look at your colour. Not sure where you'd get it in that case. I'm sure Honda will do the touch-up stuff, but ideally you want a proper kit.

I've repaired small areas on damaged parts by using touch-up, flatting off & going over it with an aresole of clearcoat.

It's imperfect compared to a pro, but OK from a distance.

Like Gritty, I'm over-confident!

That's all you need really. Touch-up, clearcoat, wet'n'dry, rubbing compound, and the nerve to set about your paintwork with them all. The last one is free!

Think i might just pay my money and book it in to Honda, at least that way if anything goes wromg i have something to fall back on.

Maybe in line for a £200 refund on my car purchase anyway as they charged me £400 for the road fund license when it was onlt £215.

I have been lucky as my car was registered 5 days before the 23rd March 2006 when the new VED bands come in to play!

I think it will only go up to £245 next year, am i right? Also any advice on getting the refund out of the dealer, shall i just ring the salesman and complain?

While i am at it, and having learnt alot from my first real visit to the site, should my car have come with the hard top stand as it is a GT, and also a tonneau cover, as it seems they were standard fare when the car was new?

Do you think i have a case with the dealer for these items aswell?

Wish i had joined and come on here prior to purchasing, although i think i got a pretty good deal.

Comments?

Thanks,

Simon.

I doubt you'd have a case mate. Not unless it was bought new, or the dealer expressly said they were included. You'd have had to make it a condition of sale from the start.

They will just use an "approved" bodyshop who may paint the whole bumper

Some are good, the majority are shat

Ask around, find a good bodyshop yourself and don't be under the illusion that if you take your car to a main dealer you will get a good job

If its through to the black you would be able to the localise repair but it is unlikely to match the rest of the bumper. If its in an obscure spot this would not be a problem. Chips away vary very much in their ability so its a bit of a lucky dip, the advantage they have is they will have your colour code plus some variations on it so in theory they can get a better match. Also the bumper paint has plasticisers in it so it will flex rather than crack. The local Honda dealer will get an approved bodyshop to do the work and they will remove and respray the whole bumper. Again, lucky dip if they match it right. £150 - £200 is what I would expect to pay for getting the bumper repaired, of course you could respray the whole bumper yourself! If you do flatten then fill the scuff first.

Hi Tango, what repair would you recommend for missing laquer? I have a small patch of exposed paintwork on the bonnet where the laquer appears to have failied.

I've paid £150 to have a bumper resprayed recently.
Good colour match on Moonrock.
