Unhappy Caliper bolt snapped!

I was just finishing off my brake pad change and the front passenger calliper lower retaining bolt snapped when tightening. This is the bolt you remove to allow the calliper to swing upwards so you can access the pads. The good news is I managed to get the half snapped off bolt out of the piece it screws into. Obviously the bad news is I need a new bolt and have no idea if this is the sort of thing readily available and where to get one from. The actual bolt has a number 10 on the back and like a washer which is part of the bolt. Has anybody had his problem before or any ideas where I could obtain a new bolt?

the number on the bolt is the hardness rating of the bolt.

Nip to Honda and they will supply you one for a few pence!

Thanks I will try Honda tomorrow see if they have one. I don't think it has cross threaded as I literally had the bolt all the way in. Although It was tightening it was still only hand tightening when it suddenly let go.

I don't remember Numbers on mine, and if they are there and its the number used in Europe i.e. commonly 8.8 and 12.9 these relate to tensile strength in Kn and not hardness

So the bolt didn't actually snap? I'm confused as to what suddenly let go. Were you using a spanner on the other end of it?

I looked at the manual earlier, and I think it was 23Nm for these. I don't think my torque wrench goes that low. I always just use a spanner.

Over-tightening it will snap it....I speak from experience Try Chiswick Honda as they might still have some in stock. When I snapped mine they ordered a couple extra as it is not a stock item

I do mine until they're tight with a spanner too, you can feel when they're tight enough.
