My second gearbox has gone after only doing 20k.
The first one was put in there to stop the second gear rumble which wasn't the source of the problem anyway.
The recent one has lost 5th after 6th was grinding slightly on changing gear at high RPM.

I also got the "this is unheard of" chat from customer services. The old gearbox is just being scrapped without anyone investigating what caused the problem.

I had 5th gear synchro go. No replacement, they stripped it down and fixed it. Worked fine ever since.

I think mine was the same in 5th- no-one has actually checked that yet though.
The garage just went for a straight gearbox replacement- didn't even consider taking it apart hence the bill for

Mine had an intermittent 5th gear problem that used to get better on its own. I suspect overheated oil.

It hasn't been a problem for ages now, but gearchanges when cold seem a little slow recently.

In the light of the above, I will probably aim for a clutch/box swap before the warranty is up.

Thanks for the info, guys.

Just had a long conversation with one of the Customer Relations people.

They are not going to fully subsidise the replacement gearbox as I've already had one under warranty. I guess I shouldn't be complaining too much as they have put about

I had a replacement gearbox after 4 months. 2nd was baulky and 5th was very recalcitrant. The service manager originally said they were going to replace the synch cones and phoned back a few days later to say that Honda told them to put a new 'box in instead.
