Default Car Going to be off the road for a while :-(

Sadly, I have MOT, Tax and Service due and insufficient funds as new tyres are required so I am going to have to SORN the car - really bad timing (given that it is the summer)

So, whilst it is off the road for at least 1 month, probably 2, I figured that maybe I can look at some maintenance work maybe, so beyond a really thorough detail are there any jobs that people can recommend I can do parts that could be removed cleaned and re-attached etc.

Also I would appreciate a recommended chip repair paint for Silverstone?

Any ideas would be greatly received, if I can keep tinkering at least I wont feel so bad about it being off the road (I hope)

Thanks.

Service it yourself if your not fussed about a stamp in the book, if it's only a minor it's only an oil/filter change. Grab some second hand or new cheaper tyres, falken 452's seem excellent value and could be had for £220ish all round if they're 16", mot is £45ish it'll pass as it's a Honda. So all in less than £300.00. Hopefully you'll be able to afford that. Seems a shame to sorn it at this time of the year, offset the costs and sorn it for two months in the winter if necessary.

You forgot the tax in that though.

Just done mine @ £260 for the year.

you could remove and replace all parts on the car in that time but id just leave it alone as most cars go wrong when people start tinkering, sounds like you cant afford for anything to go wrong in the process of tinkering so leave it.

service it yourself for sure, Simon@hendy performance is a great source of parts,

it could be worth greasing the suspension bolts, you will need a GEO after its all back together to put back on the road.

Thanks for the tips.

Finances are in a poor state right now, partly due to arrival of baby but would prefer to get service book stamped still as I may have to sell soon anyway.

Problem is this is not my main runner and so difficult to justify the costs right now.

Think I will just put a cover over it and leave it for now

Cheers

FHSH isn't the be all and end all, just keep the receipts for the parts and oil you buy, then present them to the buyer when the time comes.

To be honest dealer services may be considered neglect

I don't use a dealer, I use TGM. I think it depends who I am selling to, if it is someone form here, then of course these things can be discussed, but if it is a regular private buyer these things can make a difference.

Either way, I hope it wont come to this. Working out what I can sell on eBay right now....

I wouldn't consider buying any car that had been home serviced.

Hope things improve soon so you can get it back on the road
