Default Car missing

Put on a new maf sensor from hardtop guy as car was missing now and again and kangarooing. Made no difference sometimes put my foot down and it's like a big flat spot then all fine. Had the engine light on before putting new maf on but it has gone off now.

Is it a case of taking it into local stealer to have the codes read and get them to look it over or any tips before I do?

Thanks

Kev

How do you know it's definetly the map sensor? it could be the lambda sensor or plugs have a butchers on the search for symptoms.

......Or borrow a scan gauge or ODB II reader off someone and check the code yourself.

Cheaper than Honda charging you 80 notes.

Hi BF,

Did you replace the O ring underneath the sensor?

It's easy to miss, and if you re-install without it, you will get an air leak.

Did you reset the ECU after replacing the MAP? If not the car will learn itself pretty quickly, just go out and give it some stick though the gears.

If the problem doesn't go away then it could be a number of other things. Lambda failure or valve clearances can cause misfires, as will dodgy plugs / coil packs / blocked injectors.

It would be good to know the CEL codes - you can buy your own code reader from Ebay for about £40 which is normally what the dealer charges you.

Well all seems well now the O ring is on thanks MB! It must have been the map sensor that was causing the flat spots etc and when I put the new one on without it a new problem was created similar to the original thankfully all sorted.
