Default carPC

Going to start a thread for the carPC install which ill update as the project moves on.

Just looking for a suitable place for the main screen. Originally I was planning on going the JDM dash style screen mount but I think it looks a little unsightly so I was pleased to find out that my touchsceeen will fit nicely in place of the original stereo

Just need to find a second hand dash section to fabricate the mount...

That's brilliant thanks for the link. Looks like he's done a great job. It's confirmed that's where ill be putting the screen

This time I won't be building it for the audio competitions as its really the wrong car for it but I have grown so used to a carPC ill have to put one in the S

just wopndering why would you want a pc in a car? will it be a media centre type small thing in the boot?
are you removing the stereo/head unit and just running a pc instead?

I believe it will be hided behind the gear stick and it won't be so viewable. Do a test before fabricating it cause i might be wrong. I have install a car pc in my S to monitor all the sensors in my car but i have used the same place as JDM S2000's

Yeah, the carPC will replace the stereo completely and provide, music, video, sat nav, ECU link up, mobile phone control, games, mobile office, internet & email, reversing camera, nightvision, security etc... these are just the basics, the list is endless!

I am a little concerned about the gearknob getting in the way so I'm looking at one of the short round modification knobs on this forum to help reduce overall height of the gearlever...

You could just mount the screen in the same place as the JDM sat nav location.

That is what I am hoping to do.

I have the front bezel for the screen, and I need to order the rear bezel.

Then comes the serious bit.... the screen & other bits.

Bharat, I was looking at the JDM place to start with but I think it looks wrong, not being in the center ( I have a weird thing for symmetry OCD alert ) plus id have a hole where the original stereo was as it will be no longer used.

I was also thinking that if I mount the screen lower the top half of the dash will help to shield the screen from sunlight...
