Believe me, I am not happy... just think I would find it very difficult to prove.
The conditions were less than perfect too... misty, patchy fog, damp... not worth the hassle. My witness lives in the US too, so it wouldbe a nightmare to try and sort.

If you took this to court and it showed his speed increasing as you attempted to overtake then this pretty much breaks every rule in the Police Code of driving. He was out to get you knicked.
If it were me I would be very upset and it would have been unlikely that I would have chatted to the pr*ck in his car about how naughty I had been. More likely a bunch of 'no comments' and 'I think this is entrapment I want to go to court'. Trouble is they (Police) know that most of us for
I think you are taking this far to well. It's f^^king entrapment as far as I'm concerned and you should have been getting his badge and the video evidence and then pointing out in court that you can clearly see the police car accelerating when you try to go past normally, etc. W@nkers IMHO - these people need to lose their jobs!!!!!

I would love to see the defense of this case
out of intrest were there one or two of them in the car?
I agree that if his speed increaced after you had signeled to overtake then it constitutes entrapment as he forced you to excede the speedlimit. Not sure if I would persue it though.

[QUOTE=moff,Feb 2 2007, 10:40 AM]Just had a look at the ticket, and it does actually say the speed - 81.11mph... so the git wasn't lenient at all - he gave me the correct fine for the speed. IIRC you need to do 25mph+ before it gets over 3 points and a

He was a nice enough bloke, knew his cars and was part of a VW Cup Racing team and we got on okay.

If it was VASCAR he might have had video evidence-that may have been enough to incriminating him for baiting.
I think we all know speeding is a lottery-it always catches up with you.

Is that right - 25mph+ ? Is that for any speed limit? Does anyone have any official info - I've had a look at page Endorsements page -
To play devil's advocate for a moment. I don't necessarily agree with my comments here.
Moff, you were exceeding the speed limit. Simple enough. If the Vectra was speeding up you still had the opportunity to let it go away from you because I presume you were trying to overtake it so that it wasn't an obstruction to your progress.
The Highway code IIRC also states that breaking the speed limit is not permissible, even when over taking. So reg your points could be used against you.
Essentially I reckon you won't be able to prove entrapment.
Sorry mate

^^^ Two wrongs don't make a right. I hardly see how the police could stand in court and say, "Yeah, we pushed him along - we enticed him to race on a public road so that we could catch him". The bottom line is the police played a part in encouraging the disregard of a law! They should be done as well IMHO.
