CD Changer and Head Unit
Have a 2001 model that has the crappy standard Honda Head Unit but has the Alpine S630 CD changer (which Honda Dealer Installed as part of the deal when I bought the car).
Want to replace the Head Unit with an Alpine Unit (have already replaced my Front Speakers ) and the Adapter to allow the Dash Controls to work - however after reading a few threads I'm a bit confused that the newer Alpine units such as the CDA9812RR wont work with the S630 Changer??
Is this correct? Also are there any other adapters other than the one for the Dash Controls needed?
Is the 2001 standard head unit got a standard ISO adapter?
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

This changer would not have worked with the OEM head unit unless either the cable was modified or an interface was used....
The Alpine CHM-S630 uses an the old Alpine MBus interface to connect to the Head unit. This means that you are restricted to using Alpine head units that use MBus if you want to retain the changer. The Head unit will also require to have a remote facility if you want to use the dash controls.
To be able to use the dash controls you will need a KCE-865B adaptor. This sits between the Honda loom and the Alpine loom.
(I spent yeaterday morning upgrading an Alpine Minidisc/Changer/MBus setup to an Alpine MP3/Changer/AINet setup)
MCS Direct and Cel-Direct both do Alpine kit for good prices.

Does the CDA-9815RB work with the KCE-865B Adapter?
When playing CD's and you select mute, does it mute or pause the CD? (Pause would make more sense, but my std headunit just mute's).
For my 02 I'm considering (do I need anthing else to wire this lot up):
KCE-865B
CDA-9815RB
CDA-S634
Need to replace speakers, but was planning on waiting until the Oxford meet to listen to some other systems. Don't know if I should order some lucid panels in the mean time (I'd rather not cut the existing ones, I'd like to be able to make my car standard again for when I come to sell it).
Any recomendations on for 02, components? I'd prefer to have the components drop in with little (read none if possible) modifications. I'll then do a bit of research into them.
Cheers

Shortbloke, I'm sure I read that Lucid no longer ships outside the US. Something to do with fraud in the past, apparently..... Maybe worth e-mailing him to see, before you make any specific plans.
Might also be worth asking Honda whether the behind-seat speakers which are being introduced with the 04 are retrospectively compatible?
