Default CEL, cause for concern?

Did the airbox mod a couple of weeks ago, K&N fitted last week. Everything OK, definite improvement.

Today I unpacked HK Spoon rip off snorkel, which needed some dremel action to sort finish out. Finally got it seated ok and cut airdam to fit. I was planning to remove again and repaint but thought I would start it up.

Unclipped and replaced map sensor (is the standard one a Denso?) started up and noticed that a yellow light was staring back at me. Removed intake, unclipped map again and still a CEL.

Any ideas why? Does the ECU need resetting? Have I buggered something? But most importantly is it OK to drive to work tomorrow (15 miles) or will it have 'cleared' by then, will Vtec engage?

As an aside I noticed in Tesco petrol station yesterday that my car was producing some tasty emmissions and when you turn the engine off they continue to come for a bit. Are these connected? Never noticed it before but did notice after K&N went in there was more exhaust smoke.

Blimey - you're only supposed to change one variable at a time, otherwise meaningful diagnostics are impossible!

Firstly, check that you have correctly connected & installed MAP.

Check you have not knocked off a connector/pipe etc buggering round with the air cleaner lid. Check EVERTHING systematically is correct.

Then disconnect bettery & re-connect. See if that clears it.

If its the MAP (which governs the fuelling on VTEC) it might not let you VTEC. Im sure it will be fine. Make sure you havent pulled off any vac lines.

Where ive been buggering round with mine, ive had the odd CEL and the ECU goes into overfuel mode - witnessed on my AFR gauge.

It will either go away within about 70 miles, or just do a reset. All mine self cleared.

Mine came on for no obvious reason during a meet.

I ignored it, since I could find no other sign of a problem. Removal & twatting the MAP, followed by a battery disconnect cured it.

In this case, I should check for 'accidental' damage/mis-installation first.
