I am trying to retrieve the Blink code for a CEL that has illuminated this morning.

Having read the search information from the USA guys, and looking at my obd plug i dont have the wires in the plug that they say to short together to read the code.

Has anyone used the blink code technique on their UK car? if so which pins should i be joining?

I am prepared to purchase an OBD 2 reader but am a little concerned that with what seems 2 wires missing that the code reader will be of no use.

My car is a 52 plate and has just about done 50k miles. any other information regarding failures at this age that caused the CEL to appear would also be of use.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
