Well i've been to Hitchin and back from Milton Keynes and only used a tenner there and back - filled up before going and on my return - that's some increase in mpg .... I did give the MAP a healthy smack off the gatepost yesterday so maybe that's also helped .. no sign of another CEL either

Frucking car

Got my code reader this morning, CEL decided it would show itself again.

P0135 O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 1) - new primary 02 sensor ordered from justlambda
P0325 Knock Sensor 1 Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 or Single Sensor) - 2nd hand sensor from integrastellar

On the plus side, it's still idling beautifully since cleaning out the IACV and the new primary 02 sensor should sort out the remainder of the rich running issues.

Anyone that has one of these cars should have one of those U480 code readers, much better ( and safer) to read the code on this before clearing them so that you can correctly diagnose what you need - a generic warning light is just not enough info to let you drive the car around thinking it's safe to drive.

i think i'm going to need todo this on mine. revs have been dropping a bit too low.
it's been over 2 years since i cleaned it out last, so probably due for another one being an early 'oil burning' S

New primary 02 fitted and a new knock sensor, IACV is still working properly - no more errors and it's no longer running rich. Fallen in love all over again driving it home in the evening sun

Does seem weird you are getting a lot of sensors errors
When I put mine back to stock an O2 sensor wents tits and pulled the 5V line down giving similar weird results!

Well the knock sensor was already glued together by a previous owner - not surprising that failed as it was long due. Primary o2 was wittering about heating not working - that's now fixed. I got both sensors for under £100 anyway so i'm not too concerned.

IACV was filthy and needed cleaning out, by the looks the first time it had ever been done.

At some point this summer, I will clean the TB out properly

I don't think it's anything weird, i just think it's the time when things need repair / replacement.

Sounds good.

Knock sensors often get damaged during clutch replacements.

That's what my mechanic said, he went to remove the plug .... but the entire sensor plastic came off with it. I'd say it's had a clutch before or possibly a starter motor - got a 2nd hand one from Integrastellar - got it fitted last night along with the new 02 sensor and it drives AND idles beautifully.

From how the car feels / drives at the moment, it feels like 70k miles is a sweet spot
