CEL - P1607 ?!?
Just received my code reader and pulled out this one
P1607, which is a "Engine Control Module ECM/Powertrain Control Module PCM Internal Circuit Malfunction"?
What could have caused this? I was probably doing around 80mph when it came up and having only just filled up with Tesco 99 instead of V power as usual a few miles earlier(night before in fact).
The car was fully warmed up and this was after a bit of minor VTEC action.. the car drove perfectly fine afterwards too but with the CEL illuminated...
I've cleared the code now and its not returned after a 6-7mile cruise and short 1-2mile blast..
Anyone else ever seen this code? could it be a faulty ECU? or just a one off glitch?
Any help/advice appreciated

Yeah you mentioned that about the fuel before, and fwiw I used Tesco 99 90% of the time in my 200SX and had absolute faith in it (iirc it was tested as having better resilience to det but with a slightly lower calorific value to V power)..
Just thought it was worth a mention as it was the only real change that was made

As Mark says its probably a glitch, I can remember one bloke who had the same problem a few years back i presume it was okay because i cant recall he having any further problems.

Yep I seem to remember one like this.
Hoping it wasn't the one where there was corrosion in the wiring loom?

ouch.. better check my wiring! There was quite a bit of condensation in the cabin and a little moisture in the boot.. not had a moment to clean out the drains but passenger and drivers foot wells seem ok

Whilst your at you might as well clean the connections on the ECU with contact cleaner, i noticed on mine it was 'slightly' dirty a few years back when investigating a CEL code.

yeah so, she popped another CEL this evening
This time P0420 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold
Now normally this wouldn't worry me, what with the car being de-catted a few weeks ago... but two CELs (albeit different codes) in such close proximity? Could there be an underlying problem? or is it pretty much a dead cert that its due to the decatting? The decat has a built in spacer for the o2 sensor, maybe i need to add an extra anti fowler for extra clearance?
