Default CEL READER question......

Right, I've been meaning to get myself a Cel reader and I'm unsure as to which on is best for a decent price.

My car is a 51 reg and I've been told that you can get a decent plug and play reader and also a Bluetooth one (along with an iPhone app).

Now my questions are, can the Bluetooth ones reset a fault code (using the phone apps) and can you leave them plugged in?

What would people's choices be on which one to get?

Thanks

Bluetooth won't work with an iPhone. you'd need a WiFi version like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WiFi-ELM32...-/271061434361

The blurb indicates you can reset codes with the included software.

you can leave them plugged in, I'm pretty sure people use them for HUDs although I'm not sure about the security implications of leaving one plugged in though - i.e. can someone pair a key/immo chip using the ODBII connection ?

Ok not to sound stupid but as its a wifi one does that mean it needs to be connected to a wireless network to run?

Looking at the specs I think it set it's self up as a WIFI station that you can find and connect to if you look for the name WiFiOBD in availble networks.

Nope.

Most honda dealers can't manage that with the proper programmer!

They also can't do the valve retainers and they have the proper tools - it's easy enough to do with improv stuff...

Lol - I had a feeling the S2000's simplicity is it's strength - I suppose if you had one fitted to your beemer it might be a different story.
