Default Changing calliper - handbrake cable?

I'm going to change my sticky NSR calliper today, with a very mechanically minded colleague from work.

Has anyone got any tips?

Is it straightforward to re-attach the handbrake cable?

Yeah easy, just unbolt the bracket that holds the cable to the caliper.

Also just make sure the handbrake is off

Have a bleed tube handy, and dont start the car until you have bled the brakes.

My NSR caliper is also sticking a bit.. seems ok when its been parked up and only starts sticking if i use the handbrake while i'm out once its warmed up. Is this a handbrake problem or just sticking caliper problem?

Jim its your caliper, Are you certain its NSR? (by the way if you have been hammering the car you should never apply the had brake until its cooled down). Keep an eye on it the wear of the Pads + discs give big clues as to whats happening. Are you geting excessive wear ie are they catching all the time? Do you just hear them "clunck off" after you set off?

Have you Just had new pads on the rear recently?

I never you the handbrake after driving apart from to put the roof up, as i always park in gear.

Having new pads put on tomorrow so going to get my mate to have a proper look at the rear caliper. Its definitely near side rear as can feel the heat coming off it when i stop. Although seems to be ok tonight when i've just been out..

Maybe just needs excercise, get him to look if the seals are ok, and the gliders are free, sometimes just winding the piston back when you change the pads helps free things up.

Had new pads on and all seems ok now! He said the calipers are ok although think he thought the pads were tight against the disc on the NSR but fitting the new pads has sorted it..

It's merely winding the pistons back in that frees them off!

Worked for me on most of the cars.
