Default cheap diff options

it seems the Kia Sportage has a similar diff to the S2000 but a different ratio - swap over looks straight forward and saves you a bomb from 'performance' brands for the same end result

http://www.turbomagazine.com/tech/0804_tur...ive_ratios.html

also looks like the RX7/8 and mx5 have a suitable diff too.
i wonder how much a second hand diff from sportage would cost?

There are a few people on the UK forum who have the 'ideal' 4.625 Kia gear which would be my choice...it's just a shame that Stocky cannot remember the part number.

Chris.

The differential or housing are not interchangeable only the ring and pinion gear are.

You can use the Kia 4.77 or the Mazda 4.3, 4.44 and the Richmond 4.56 gear.

The Kia and Mazda set run about $450 US and the 4.56 Richmond set is $650 US

A nice upgrade to the gearing is the 4.44 from Mazda, it is not to much like a 4.77 can be and there is little to no whine with this gear.
