ClayBar

For anybody as apprehensive about using a clay bar on their pride and joy as I was, please see the link for a how to. Alex from SeriousPerformance enclosed the article with my order and I found it useful so hopefully others will to.

Once I've clayed what should I put on before waxing? Is it the detailer or something else?
Wash and rinse it

Then apply your choice of polish / wax

Clayed mine yesterday and used a Zaino bar this time. Something made me think whilst I was doing it that the Meguiars bar was better but I cannot explain why.

However having used my first application of Zaino on the pimpmobile I am very impressed with the results. With a top coat of P21S it looked absolutely stunning and this morning when I drove her away the rain which was on the bonnet didn't know which way to go

P21S is good as a top coat on anything; gives the shine real depth.

Depending on which wax/polish you are using, there are products to use before the wax/polish; with Swissol or Zymol you use a pre-wax oil (HD Cleanse = Zymol, Cleaner Fluid = Swissol) which oils and conditions the paint, and helps the wax stick.

I managed to cock up my bonnet and front wing however, and left smears in my cleaner fluid which I've waxed in (wing and bonnet were in the sun and it dried on too much) so I have to re-cleaner fluid it and wax again

The other thing is; Carnuba based waxes (e.g. P21S, Zymol, Swissol) need 24 hours to cure between coats, or the 2nd layer of wax won't stick (according to a guy at Swissol)

A good link.
Good advice on the use of the Clay.

I also find it's easier to use it if I puff my chest up, but I can't get it as good as this.
