Best thing to use is the normal stuff that you clean the car with. If you give it a good scrub with whatever car shampoo you use it should get rid of all the dirt.
If you have any really dirty marks areas, best to use something like a washing-up brush to give that area a really thorough clean.
There has been much discussion on this before and most people say avoid using 'special' hood cleaning products as they don't really work and can make a real mess.
Hope this helps?

Ah ok - for some reason I was thinking never to use car shampoo etc. The one I am using at the moment, before I get my Zaino group buy is the halfords car shampoo.
So if i run through a hand wash car wash (those ones the turks or albanians usually run ) I can ask them to wash my roof as well? (being careful with the old jet wash i presume?)

I wouldn't use the hand car wash as they use some Very strong cleaning chemicals to make the job easy.
I always prefer the DIY hand job.
what have I just said.
You all know what I mean, don't you.

EDT: IIRC and I probably don't - even Pete uses a pressure washer
EDIT II: sorry forgot - hard water area - pressure reducing valve for water softener - need pressure washer to produce more than a dribble from hose.
