Well, I took mine into TGM last Friday for it's service and to get the knocking/clunking sound looked at.

Tom said he couldn't hear anything which i was surprised about. The noise is so obvious when going over slightly pot holed roads. He said he took it for a 6/7 mile test drive and couldn't hear a thing.

If i go over a bump on the near side with my rear wheel, nothing. On the drivers side rear, a bad knocking noise. I've had the suspension checked twice now and both times it's been said there is no problem.

I mentioned it could be the drop links, but nothing was picked up.

Other than take it somewhere else to get looked at I'm at a loss. The car never used to make this noise and it does seem a little harsh on the back right rear suspension when going over uneven road.

*Its definitely not a loose spare wheel or anything obvious!

Tighten the drop links when all four wheels are on the deck.

I have had this problem before

For the price of droplinks on ebay, I would change them over anyway. They could still be knackered even if they are visibly ok.

Cheers. Is this an easy job, I'm not very mechanical you see.....or could I get a local garage to do it for me?

To the OP:

Sounds like a CV knuckle failing to me.
If it starts vibrating under power then you'll know for sure

if it is, do it quick i left mine for a month or 2 to progress (either tyre wear, shocks or d/shaft) and now i have to replace one of the diff mountings. incidentally, it's the same side as the faulty driveshaft...

its either just coincidental or the cause of leaking diff mount..
