When I had Honda bikes years ago, you had to either be in neutral or have the clutch in the start. Which was pretty sensible. I don't understand why they couldn't have incorporated a neutral sensor into this system.

I suppose there's a very slim chance that it could confuse a thief into thinking it's an imobiliser system he hasn't managed to disable.

if you hold the start button down can you start the car by dipping the clutch?

Nope... Tried that !!

Mine's a JDM and the clutch has to be pressed.

I was always under the impression this was JDM and US cars only

[QUOTE=chastmeister,Apr 29 2007, 05:58 PM] If that's the case it would seem a very odd thing for a manufacturer to do!

The good thing about being to able to start the car without pressing the clutch is that if you are stuck in ford and your engine fails to fire you can put the thing in gear and drive out using the starter motor. Essential in this damp country. OK so never done that manovere in the S but did do it once in an old Golf Gti. Not sure how heathly it is for the starter motor, but better than having the cabin fill up with river water....
