Default Cockpit Clock

I solved the problem of the missing clock by using a small battery operated LCD clock mounted on the Audio flap. Although not illuminated, the display is large enough to be read in the ambient light scatter at night, and avoided hard wiring.

The clock is a Polco Quartz Car Clock Ref:639.01 (Polco-Belcar Ltd) from Discount Autoparts in Cambridge. Cost

I missed a clock when I got my S, so I popped into H******s (sorry!) and got a clock with internal and external temperature and automatic nightime illumination - it is long and thin so fits perfectly just above the interior light and below the hood line. (Will get a photo if anyone is interested)

It is battery operated and I have run the external temperature sensor around the windscreen and down to the passenger side door hinge - not very accurate when it is hot but will hopefully give me some useful indications during winter.

Have not hooked up the automatic illumination yet but thinking of running it off the interior light power, only problem with that is that it is a permanent feed so the clock will be lit up at night when I am not using it! Could run it off the passenger side spot switch I suppose ...

Frisky,

There are a couple of free terminals on the intereior fusebox. (The one under the dash by your right knee). Ones continuous live and the other is through the ignition so only live when running. I think PWE 8896 has a similar set up and he's wired his there.

Didn't Pete fix his clock/temp display just above the fuse box? Easy to wire in but I should think the driver's knee gets in the line of sight.

Pete, I have the same clock as you - but no hard top! It fits well with the softtop up.

Good idea to run the feed from the fuse box - I am just reluctant to pull all the trim off to run the cable!

I will take a picture tonight and add it here tomorrow.

I've got one of them velcro'd below the roof but above the light. Works a treat roof up, down - no ned to touch it when you put the roof up, and you can take it off whenever you like !
