Default code readers

Can any one recommend a code reader that they've brought, had a spin yesterday on track which has brought the ecl light on. Car wouldn't run right untill I went through the heart soak cycle ie tick over untill 2 activations of the cooling fans, now runs as normal, but light still on. Ihave some one who can read the code for me next week, but thought I might invest in a reader and learn more about engine managment. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

A smartphone app (such as Torque https://play.google....rowl.torquefree) along with a cheap reader (bluetooth for Android, Wifi for apple) will do the job nicely.

These let you put together data logs for "exciting" track videos too.

That was a generic one, like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Maxiscan-Blu...obd2+bluetooth - there are loads and loads of options out there, some for even less money than that!

There is talk that they drain the battery. The more expensive ones don't apparently http://www.amazon.co.uk/427201-OBDLi...ywords=obd2+mx but they are a lot more money. It only takes 2 seconds to plug/unplug, so probably not worth it.

So best guess at the fault code ? I was thinklng fuel related unless something broke, spin was a 180 anti clockwise at around 70mph, and didnt leave the tarmac.

Did you clutch in when you spun? Engine running backwards probably confused the heck out of some sensors..? /theory
