Coilover question
Hi all,
With reference to the coilovers in the topic description, I was wondering if the lower the car is the stiffer the ride is? These came on the car when I bought it and the car is probably lowered about 30-35mm on them. I see the tops of the coilovers has the little "knobs" for making the ride harder or softer but I have never touched them as I assumed the previous owner probably had them setup properly. The ride is maybe just a little too harsh for me so I was wondering to make it a more comfortable ride, do I just adjust those dials towards a softer ride or raise the ride height itself?
Thanks,
PJ

That's a big assumption!
Turn the dials for a softer ride.
First find out at what position they are currently set at. Wind them all the way to fully hard (oo-er) counting how many clicks you go through.
Then wind them back towards soft the same number of clicks +4. Do this for all four coilovers (to do the rears you'll need to remove the spare tyre and muck about with the boot trim for the left rear).

It sort of feels quite bouncey at the back over bumps/humps but then quite harsh over poor road surfaces, I am thinking maybe the back has been setup softer or something?

I think these have 30 clicks, maybe set them all to 15 (i.e. the middle) and see how you go from there.

Yep it's 30 clicks and that adjusts how soft or hard the ride will be. I have mine set to 18 but start at 15 and go from there as its what suits you the best in terms of compromise on comfort to handling.

I have the Meister R coilovers, but the same principles apply. I regularly tune mine. 10 is lovely and supple for moway journeys, 12-14 for normal driving and I've had them up to 28 (out of 32) for track work. Hope you find similar adjustment range with yours!

Ok, when you say 30 clicks and then say for example floppy you are set to 18...do you mean 18 clicks towards hard, or 18 clicks towards soft if you understand what I mean? I just checked mine, and the back settings didn't match with each other...nor did the front...

Starting with them on the softest setting I have mind 18 towards hard. I did have the back stiffer than the front by 2 clicks but from memory it made the ride too crashy which meant on very bumpy country roads I left my seat so that's why I softened the rear.
