Default Common problem?

Hi All,

Shopping around for a S2k at the bottom of the market atm and have come across one for £6,300 with 86k fsh and 5 months mot/tax (and has coiloves and new enkei's)

Main problem is there's a couple of dinks and scrapes on the car which i'd want to fix at some point.

Biggest problem would be that there's a bit of rust on the outer sill area around the bottom of the front wing and also a smaller scrape too with what looks like a little rust coming through

Due to go look at the car on sunday but have been told this could be a big repair due to the blending in etc required as its probably metallic? and could be a indication that its been in a knock at some point in the past?

Anyone savvy to this area at all? and would the car still be worth considering if ok in all other areas?

and the car overall;

Cheers,
Alex

Is it covered by the anti-corrosion warranty?

Ah safe to say it is quite common then i presume? (well fairly anyway)

Would you rule a car out that has something like this on it? Plenty of cars around just over the £6k mark (suprising really, although i am prepared to look at a lot of sheds, just sold my RX7 so will have the cash in next week or so but have my Bora to runabout in until i find a decent S2000 )

I wouldn't rule out a car just because of a few minor cosmetic issues mate.

If the rest of the car is ok and well looked after then go for it, you can always sort out a few cosmetic issues later on.

I always put service history, mileage and generally how well a car has been looked after at the top of the list, as once you buy the car this is something you can never change, whereas cosmetic issues can be rectified.

Hope this helps

That's very likely to have had a replacement quarter panel.
All the obviously original cars I have seen don't have these issues.
The Honda paint is excellent, and that much rust under the paint is normally after refinishing.

HTH.

I agree with m1bjr, I'm guessing mine has had a new rear quarter a fair while ago as all the tell tale signs are there, but its been done pretty well by the look of things. I have got a couple of rust problems on it though which are not apparant elsewhere on the car.

Has it had the arches rolled or cut for the alloys?
