Default Compression/leakdown test on a 2nd hand S2k

OK, the wary cynic in me tells me I cannot truly know how anyone has really maintained their oil levels.

I posted previously about a second hand S2K I had viewed that seemed fine exterior/interior, but over three owners and 60K, I can't really know how it's been treated.

As I've already been given a quote from a Honda dealership to look at this car's suspension to see if it's seized, I'm wondering if they can also do a compression/leakdown test while it's with them. Do you guys think it's worth it? Or is there anything else I could get them to look at?

It's the potential engine blowing because of poor oil maintenace that is my biggest worry at the moment.

Thanks

Dan

If you are really THAT fussed, I would go for a dealer car with warrenty etc, as it sounds as if you are worrying about nothing tbh...

I have just gone through a similar thought process, then realised I was being silly! ;-)

If you want a proper leakdown, why do it at Honda? They will charge

Agreed.

This is a tough engine, but an expensive one.

At the end of day, theres a hell of a lot of cars out there so don't get fixated on one.

You really can't underestimate the owners in terms of buying a car.

The bloke I bought my car ffrom, his dad owned his own garage so the car had been well looked after. I had a look at it on a ramp. Had a good chat with them and talked cars/bikes for a good 45 mins.

Wheels were a bit scuffed, headlights had a bit of mist in them, but on the whole, it was in brilliant condition

Everything was right so I bought it.

Car runs really well and I have no issues

mate if your that fussed buy a new car!

mines done 56k and im its forth owner. soon as i went to view i could see the car has been looked after there tell tail signs. a lady owned mine before me witch put me of at first because i no what my mrs and sister are like with there cars. soon as i saw the s it was 100% better than the one i saw with 10k less miles and 2 owners!.

if your not 100% on the car get an rac check done it can cost a 100+ but it will put your mind at rest

i think most s2ks now will have the rusty bolts and i dont think a compression test will do your mind any good.

if the car drives rite pulls well in every gear doesnt smoke or rattle and as you say in nice inside and out then i think your on to a winner.

as others have said buy one with a warenty from honda ask them for a geo set up before you pick it up. if you dont want to pay garage prices the get a rac check done. or a fellow s2k member to give it the once over
