UK & Ireland S2000 CommunityDiscussions related to the S2000, its ownership and enthusiasm for it in the UK and Ireland. Including FAQs, and technical questions.
I need a little bit of help. As both companies are located in England and booth produces audio control interfaces for the S2000, wich one is better?
In terms of long term reliability and functions?
Regarding the MUTE funktion, it is simply a on-off switch in the S2000 controls in contrast to the rest of the switches.
I f you want Mute working, you need a simple relay circuit IF (!) the Mute Control on the Head unit gets triggerd if it gets connected to ground. A mini 4 P Relais is all you need.
The wiring is:
Mute switch - Relay Coil - Ground.
Mute input at the Radio - Relay switch - Ground.
Study the circuit diagramms and ask the manufacturer of the head unit how mute works. Then just Solder, wire and hack the Relay into the connecting loom wich cames with the Interface.
Best of all: It is hidden. No need for good looks.
Looks like this:
Little black cube: Relay. Green: Mute switch at the dashboard and mute contact at the Head unit. Yellow-Black: Ground.
Again, study the circiut diagramms and ask how the mute works at the head unit in your car! Dont blame me if it smells bad after you press the button!
Hope that helps.
