Cooling Fans Constantly On - Rad Temp Switch - OEM or Aftermarket
Hi Guys,
Just a quick one, i've noticed that my cooling/AC fans don't turn off and assume this isnt normal.
I have read a few old threads which suggest that the temperature switch on the radiator has gone bad.
No overheating and the temperature gauge stays constant at 3 bars.
Actually had a great drive in it yesterday with no issues.
The OEM Honda switch is pretty pricey which I dont mind paying for reliability.
For reference - Honda part number is: 37760P00003
Has anyone tried third party types which are reliable?
Read somewhere that Cambiare is ok.

Are these easy to replace, any special tools or common issues to look out for?
Thanks for your help guys

Is it consistent?
This happened the other day on my car (in the garage, stone cold) when I turned on igntion to drop the roof
Then on trying again later it didn't and has not received
i read some mixed things about the aircon affecting it

Yeah, on mine it is pretty consistent, I noticed it last month but didnt think anything of it.
Just been out to the car now and tried a few things.
The fans constantly on when on pre-ignition and when the engine is started and running from cold.
I have checked and swapped the relays over, I think there are two of the same relays in the fuse box in the engine bay. No difference!
I then unplugged the radiator temp switch, the fans stopped. On pre-ignition and engine start the fans do not rotate.
From this I believe it to be the radiator fan switch stuck in the closed position.

You can test the switch with a multimeter I guess

Will have to take off the under side splash shields which will no doubt have seized fixing bolts. lol

I have replaced temp switch on my car. Same symptoms and fans stopped when unplugging the temp switch plug. I found new switch from ebay called "Intermotor 50161".
Replacing was easy. Some of the coolant came out, but I just filled the radiator afterwards and it was fine.

Have used both the brands mentioned above, both ok and usually available in the UK.

You got your AC on?
Yep the AC was off

So you dont need to bleed the system, just unscrew the old one and screw in the new one - Is that it??
Cheers guys for the comments.
Might go genuine for peace of mind.
Is the car still ok to drive as it is?

Haha! that was one of the first things i checked. Had to make sure
Yep the AC was off
Assume due to the switch being right at the bottom of the radiator it can't suck in any air??

Fine to drive, just run a bit cooler, my old CRX had a thermostat that was stuck open for months, only noticed it when the winter came and it took a while to heat up.
