Default Creeeeak

My steering wheel makes a creaky noise, when you're going over bumpy ground.

I can make it make the noise with my hand, if I push on the top part of the plastic that covers the center part of the wheel.

Now, I would prize it off and try n grease somthing, but I'm worried I'll do somthing daft like deploy the airbag. Is it easy/safe to remove the plastic from the steering wheel?

i THINK the steering wheel has to be dropped to fully remove the top cowling. (pretty sure there is a guide in the 'under the hood' section for this)
the bottom cover should just drop off once you've undone the 3 screws underneigh.

*** remove battery terminal for about 15-30mins prior to working on/near the SRS system ***

I'm not sure it's the cowl, it's the front bit of the wheel I mean, i.e. press it and the car goes beeeep
