Drove to the shops 'entrance' of the car park to drop the Mrs off as it was belting down with rain... reversed back through the carpark to get to an 'out of the way' space. Didn't see a low wall jutting out around some pipe work (below line of sight out of the rear window and side mirrors).
The irrational part of me still thinks it was a stupid place for a wall
Didn't see it.... fcuking felt it though. Is that that worst sound and associated feeling in the world or what
? My heart sank. Got out to inspect the damage... rear bumper stowed in - only saving grace is that the damage stops right on the panel gap for the rear wing.
Anyhow,

Hard luck Stuart, I feel your pain - make the missus walk into town in future!
I researched 3rd party PDC for a friend with a Celica, and it doesn't cost all that much to do, depending on how many sensors etc you want. Luckily your car is black so there are no painting issues.

Sorry to hear that matey but these things happen. I used to have a black Accord and did a similar thing in year 2000. I parked in a big car park on a dark and rainy afternoon and went and bought a few items in Tescos. When i got back in the car i started it up, reversed and turned and then wallop, hit a tree, one of only 4 or 5 in the whole car park.
I had to have a new rear bumper. It only takes a moment of non conentration.
