Thumbs up CRV or CTR ?

Silly question but which would you have?
A CRV or A CTR?

We need something "practical"(ish).
There's no family to think about, but we do sometimes do a rather large shop at Costco. ( We have managed to just about fill the boot of the CRV with beer, food, crisps, fridges, etc. )

It's just that we are becoming more seduced by the sexy red Civic Type R in out local showroom every time we are in there, and we are now thinking of trading in the CRV for one.

Forgetting the cash aspect. (CTR is actually cheaper than the CRV but I suspect more to run)
Is a CTR a "practical" car?

Our newish Jazz has a suprisingly large boot - especially with the seats down. I expect that the CTR will have even more space. Aren't there stats. on the Honda site re. the number of litres of boot space ?

It's a well-known fact that the CTR can carry a LOT of bread

Depends whether Donna wants to drive a sporty car, I guess. If she does, I reckon you wouldn't miss the extra load space of the CRV too much. Personally, it would be the CTR.

But to answer your question, I think the CRV would be the better all-round vehicle.

I had a CTR before my S and there is absolutely loads of space in it - it doesn't get called a breadvan for nothing!

plus it looks good and the performance is almost as good as the S.

only problem really is that they are very common these days - part of the reason why I traded mine in after less than two years of ownership - ya gots to have a bit of exclusivity.

what you want is a mugen jazz

No, no, no!!! Get an Integra Chris, looks better than the CTR, more exclusive and more driver focused (recaros etc I believe). Although we don't place too much store in what EVO mag says, they do comment that it is one of the best handling FWD cars you can get

Hi,

Total newbie here. I own a CRV & want to add to my Honda family with the S2K. I love the CRV & so does my wife & kids. We've just been renovating our house & the amount of "gear" you can get in the CRV is fantastic, as well if you have to make a trip to IKEA you can fully load it & laugh at people trying to squeeze wardrobes into their Mondeo. It's good to drive, very easy in fact & although you can't tear around in it you can enjoy the drive. We drove it to Spain for a holiday it was good getting there although it's not good above 90mph (wind noise) once there it was the perfect beach holiday car.

The downsides are that it is heavy on juice (bought from new, but it is getting better) so round town I think you only get 22-25MPG. You end up having to take all you mates to the footie.

Oh my, the CRV does have a large rear (or the CTR a small one):

CTR
Boot capacity to window seat up (litres, VDA method) 315litres
Boot capacity to window seat down (litres, VDA method) 610litres

Jazz
Boot capacity to window seat up (litres, VDA method) 353litres
Boot capacity to window seat down (litres, VDA method) 845litres

CRV
Boot capacity to window seat up (litres, VDA method) 527 - 628 (sliding rear seat)
Boot capacity to window seat down (litres, VDA method) 952 litres

I'd say CRV over CTR, but that's mainly based on my own opinion.

However, if I were looking at a CRV, then I'd probably look at a Nissan Rally Raid, as it's a truck and I'd like one.

The CTR is a very practical car (Kathryn has one). The ride is a lot harder than the S and front tyres last about 12k no mater how gently you drive it. Tyres are about
