Phil - I remember trying to fit mine with no joy. I tried hacking the snorkel up to get it to sit lower and I adjusted the bonnet catch with no joy. The only option is to make a cut in the bonnet. I didn't want to do this myself, so it never got fitted.

However when I finally got myself a Mugen CAI I had to make that bonnet cut (I think the cut for the snorkel would be smaller). I used some computer "blow hole trim" to line the edge after it had been painted, just to tidy it up. I've still got to get the skin sprayed at some point.

TM - Where did you get your spray from for yours?

I used a Dremel to cut mine, with a grinding wheel/blade. If you do leave the bonnet on the car when you do the cutting, make sure you cover the engine bay and whole of the front of the car, as you'll end up with metal shavings everywhere

It's probably easier to take the bonnet off the car. Hindsight is a wonderful thing

I wouldn't bother cutting the bonnet unless you were installing a proper CAI like the Mugen or J's intake.

Hmmm, this is a little concerning...

No-one else has mentioned cutting the bonnet itself for a Spoon style snorkel...

It may depend on which fake you get?

Looking at it, I would have thought any snorkel is going to require cutting, unless it is so thin as to be useless.....

If you look the picture I posted, the snorkel is pretty narrow at the point where it meets the bonnet, and cutting is still definitely needed.

Has anyone installed a snorkel without cutting?

Yep, but that was on a 51 plate, I seem to recall there being some fitment/quality issues with the 04> snorkels. I know Lee (FIELDL) had some horrendus fitment woes, with the bonnet protruding about 1/4 inch after fitment.

I assume that 1/4 inch protrusion was without cutting? I would say I am seeing about the same at the moment.

Time to warm up the Dremel.......

Phil - If you don't want to cut the bonnet you could always try and get hold of one of these instead.

Air intake guide

I don't know how this would marry up with your K&N, but it might be worth a look. A guy in Japan makes them, I have his website address at home if your interested.
