Default D2S faulty HID. HELP!

Hello all! I'm new here, just bought Myself a 53 plate S2000 a week ago, and I'm already having problems!!

I've noticed that My o/s headlight doesn't work on dip, so ordered a new bulb and set about fitting! Fitted the new bulb, and guess what? Still doesn't work!!!!
Having seen the cost of a replacement headlight, and nearly having heart failure, I thought I'd ask you!
Is there any common problems with these? I know there's a control unit bolted to the bottom of the headlight itself, but I'm not about to open tat up with 25000 volts inside!
I've checked the headlight for a feed and earth, no problems there.
If anyone could help Me, I'd be a very happy chap!

Looks like you could have a faulty ballast. Rare, but not unheard of.

Try unbolting the ballast from the faulty unit and attaching it to the good item see if it goes on. You can at least confirm/eliminate it then

Yeh, it's a sports car and a pretty rare one at that.
You need a decent fund to keep a 6yr old one in top order.

It is not a common fault IME.
If you're a 'fixer' get on eBay and find a cheap CDROM of the Honda S2000 Workshop Manual.
All tests and diagnostics including drawings for HIDs will be found on that and will pay for itself instantly.

Sounds like a dead ballast, form the FAQ on here you can find breakers with stocks of good spares.
Don't open it as you won't find anything inside you can fix.

Cheers for the help so far guys! So is the ballast the box that bolts to the bottom of the headlight?
Does anyone know how much these are second hand and where I can get one from?

Re-read the post by m1bjr...he's told you where a list of breakers can be found on the forum. The FAQ is at the top of the UK Index page. eBay may have one too.

I've not had a good look around there myself, but would presume the ballast is the box you are referring to.
