Default Disconnecting and charging the battery...

I'm thinking about doing this as I've borrowed a charger - was going to take out the battery and charge in indoors then reconnect.

Question is, will this cause problems? The radio code shouldn't be a problem as I've fitted an aftermarket system. But is there anything else I need to know?

By the way I want to try this since the battery is fairly new (less than 2 years), I probably drained it by leaving the door open for 15 minutes or so with the light on and now the alarm goes on when I start the car.

Thanks Chris

I'd leave it on the car to charge it personally, as it is the only way I've ever done it!

Just leave it in the car, but make sure the location is reasonably well ventilated as the charging - charging causes explosive gas to be produced. Not a good idea to do it in the house if you don't have a garage.

Mine's a 2001 and the battery's finally croaked.

Not bad for an S2000 battery.

I charge them on the car. So long as you use a normal (ie not fast) charge you should be OK.

Just have the fob close to hand when you reconnect the battery. Been caught out a couple of times with the alarm going off and having to dig around to get the keys out of a pocket.

so you guy don't disconnect the cables from the battery before charging it?

I've been taking it out but the alarm beeps (disconnected beep, not alarm sounding)

I didn't want battery acid all over the place!

I have always disconnected the battery in the car, but left it in place. Thinking about it though my bike is on a trickle charger/optimiser all the time and the battery on that is never disconnected.

Nope.

My 911 is permanently connected to a charger/conditioner (as the battery seems to be shit at holding a charge if it's not used regularly) and I just run the crocodile clips to the battery then close the bonnet lid on it. I haven't had any problems.

Charging in place will only work, of course, if you have a mains socket in your garage!

(FWIW, I had assumed I would need to remove it to charge it before I posted about my problem on another forum and was told that it was fine to charge it while still connected.)
