I did the math's and reckoned that changing from OEM's to lightweight wheels like Mugen MF10s or Spoon SWs was worth ~ 20bhp !!!!!

... then I did it with the aid of a calculator and found my decimal was in the wrong place - it's more like 2 bhp

MF10s are ~8kg less than stock IIRC.

Have you taken into consideration whether or not your wheels have a overall bigger radius? If they do that will increase top speed but reduce acceleration. Again I'm not sure if it would be to a level that you would notice it but hey ho!

All,

I had a set of 18's (Evos - I know, not everyones choice!) on my S, but I put the original alloys back on it last week cos the alloys need a refurb and 2 new rear tyres. I drove the car afterwards and it seemed like it was going a bit better than normal. A week on and now I'm not sure whether it was my imagination or it is quicker.

I know heavier wheels = slower car, but in reality would it be that noticeable?

I'm sure someones done the math before... let me know. I do know that the stock 16's now look awfully small on it!

Ian
The secret is to eat less pies.

Less pies = better performance

So that's probably 10bhp better than EVo 5s

I can go round corners quicker with my bigger wheels, also I have no trouble keeping up with guys with 16's
its just a shame you do a truffle shuffle with your very low profile tyres as as you do it Jamie
