Great question, I'll be watching this one!
Fancy seeing you here!!

I reckon we could make some conclusions if we get the input.

Perhaps anyway!

Ian - I've been away from the board too long, eating too much deep fried chicken in China -

being away from your car makes you love it even more. I found that after a few months of owning - all the sensations became "normal". But if you don't drive it for 2-4 weeks - it's like discovering it all over again - except this time without the fear. Changing gear for fun etc.

I couldn't agree more - it is strange how you adapt to this (and any other) car and take its performance for granted. I came back from Canada where I drove a GM SUV (called a 'Jimmy' ) for a week. God did the S2000 seem quick and 'planted' after that

I have never driven an SUV before so I have to pretend what it's like - I have driven a double decker bus once - so I guess it is similar to that

I would not fancy driving an S2000 amongst all those SUV's in North America. I pulled up alongside a Nissan Patrol today with oversized tyres - my head was still within the wheelarch.

I think squealing is due to the tread blocks gripping and letting go causing the vibration and hence the sound. Since the OEM S02's have smaller rain channels, and therefore bigger tread blocks I think they are far less prone to squealing. I haven't squealed yet, but I don't think I'd be able to push the car far enough outside of a track to be sure.

On a warm dry road, the tyres make a sort of roaring noise (block slip?) when you're really torturing them round bends.

This time of year, the car's sliipping too readily for that behaviour.

The Pirelli P3 - that was a tyre you could make really squeal with no perceptible loss of traction!

I think I've heard S2000 with OEM S02's squeel when the spin at autocrosses...

Have you noticed they now put islands in supermarket carparks, so you can't practice doughnuts?
