Default Does anybody know this CAT?

As the title says, does anybody recognise what cat this is?

I had a rattle from under the car, so popped into local Honda dealer. They said the cat was going, so like many people not being very keen on the Honda new price I got one from a breaker. The dealer fitted it, but when I drove the car, I still had a rattle, although I do think its a different one, as the dealer suggested when I returned the car to them.
They said that they had to fit longer bolts to one end than came in the standard fixing kit. So I think the cat is non standard, sadly I hadn't been under the car to look at the old one before it went, it also is quite a lot louder and rasps a bit. However its the rattle thats doing my head in, the dealer said I now need a new exhaust, but I believe a different cat might sort the problem.

Any advice or thoughts much appreciated.

Oh, the dealer also suggested that it only rattled at higher revs(not actually true) and that I might just want to keep the revs down and it would be fine!!!

Hmmm, looks like some generic cat.

Originally i thought it was the Honda stock cat without the heat shield etc on , but it doesnt look like especially at the ends.

Flange doesnt look right either.

Is the rattle could be coming from the exhaust further back (not at the cat), does the rattle happen at specific scenarios?, could be a baffle etc?

It does tend to happen more when either accelerating or braking, but under gentle conditions as well as when I'm pushing it.

Sounds more like a loose baffle in one silencer mate.

Can't see those "longer bolts" as thats exactly the same as mine - MY06!

Steve.

Surely if the cat was at fault it would have rattled before you fitted it?

I thought I did well to avoid mentioning flange, but kind of knew things would head that way.

Is the baffle easy to sort?

Nice looking cat by the way.
