Thumbs up Does removing the air box cover do any damage?

I have removed my air box cover a number of times as it sounds so cool!

However the cover is there for a reason, so does it do any long term damage if it is off long term?

I don't believe it should as the air filter is the only thing that restricts particulate flow into the engine, the airbox cover will help with heat soak and change the airflow but removing it should not cause any damage to the car.

The reason is....... to reduce the noise!!!

.... the extra noise will not damage your car!!

(plus a to make sure the inlet air comes from the intended location, but again no damage risk)

It's there to reduce noise, reduce heat soak and protect the filter. I can't imagine there would be any long term effects on your car/engine if you ran with the lid off for long periods of time.

Be aware that you'll lose some power....about the same as if the Aircon is on in my case.

Hence the K & N CAI.

But that's the great thing! Pop it back on when you're not in the mood.
