Default The Dreaded CEL

Ho hum,

So on friday night my car was louder than usual and I had a look to see that the manifold had come away from the cat replacement pipe. I need a MOT so i took the car to a local garage and had my CAT put back in. The car was running perfecty until this morning. It had been raining heavily all night and when i started the car the CEL came on. The car is running very badly, lumpy idle, 'rooing like a mofo etc.

Can anyone suggest the possible causes/resolutions ?

BTW regarding the ECU, the guy STILL hasn't come to see the supercharger so it looks like I'm going to have to fit it

So have you now got an OEM cat in, with the OEM lambda in it now, and you got a CEL?

Have you left the anti fowler plug in?

The symptoms you describe are that of a damaged priamry lambda - the one in the manifold. Hopefully they haven't twatted it.

I would reset the ECU as it may have become confused due to the air leak.

could be the idle control valve.
had this after engine transplant.

starts ok then but when trying to drive slowly the bleddy thing jumps around like an over enthuiastic puppy.

and when idle revs up and down like a whores draws.

found that switching off and restarting stopped it which at least makes the car drivable but ultimately if it this the icv it needs replacing

I had the berk test pipe in which doesn't use an anti fowler plug (i think). It had be running perfectly until this am i have driven about 150miles since having the cat put back in.

Which fuse do i pull to reset the ecu ?

Have you got the Berk in now, or the OEM one?

Still sounds like an air leak around the lambda or the sensor itself has shot.
