Drilled Discs..
I'm looking at changing the front discs on my '00 S and would like to know what people recommend? I'm after some drilled discs and some some suitable pads for just fast road use (not venturing onto the track yet!). I want the drilled discs from a look point of view as well as the additional cooling aspect.
Any ideas on which makes are best and what sort of price for the fronts?
Jim

Would grooved discs help with cooling or is it all for show? And does the pattern of the drilled discs depend on whether they will crack or not? I wouldn't expect them to crack under normal road conditions?

Grooves are for show IMHO. Myself and lower have had huge brake problems, and each found our own solution. Bear in mind though, that we're both very hard on brakes.
I've tried Brakes International blanks, EBC Turbogrooves and OEM disks. Pad choice is critical.
If you're on road stick with OEM, maybe swap to BI disks as they're a lot cheaper and don't seem much worse.
For track use I've had to use Pagid RS-29 (expensive) with BI disks. Lower's running BDA disks with Ferodo DS2500.
I won't deny that the EBC Turbogrooves looked pretty though they warped on my first track day with them.

There's generally quite a few topics on discs floating around.
Lower is trying DBA discs (road and track).
Chilled will warp just about anything in sight on a track.
There's a thread from Performance Friction on a possible product for the S.
Alot of people just stick with OEM or "blanks" from Brakes International.
Before I did my first trackday I went for:
- EBC TurboGrooves (dimpled, not drilled)
- Ferodo DS2500 pads
I got these from Julian at BalanceMotorsports, he's a good guy and very helpful.
Quite a few people have cracked or warped EBC Turbogrooves (chilled on only one outing at Outlon for example!).
Personally, I've managed Rockingham and a Donington evening session on them and they seem to be holding up OK, but then I'm probably cautious being a track day newbie.
The EBC turbogrooves look ok (search on that and you'll find some pics) and they don't cost the earth (Balance appear to list them at around

I would get the EBC. My experience would suggest they're only a problem if you're on track, and then only if you run Ferodos.
They do look pretty...
